The Diocesan Archive For The Irish Church
RECORDING IN LANDSCAPE — A memorial archive on a chosen site with significant archaeological importance in Ireland. Clonmacnoise used to be a scriptorium for monks, where they recorded the history of battles. The building is an archive for the Diocesan, and peat bog, peat briquette, light weight timber structure, bog trains and brass are used as major elements of the design. The Church archive complex is composed of a public frontage, concealing the archive headquarters, rehabilitation centre, reading rooms, physical and digital archives beyond, all standing around a garden with weaving walkways. The Archive stores items once they are received from the Church and additional structures hold the historical letter records. The project focuses on reminding the hidden history should not be forgotten. Besides having a powerful presence to the community, the Church Archive also preserves the boglands from extinction.
